Audrey Longson, DO

Psychiatry
Delaware, Illinois, Oklahoma and More
A leading specialist in psychiatry, known for authenticity, empathy, streamlined med regimens, and pioneering research into reality TV and its impact on personality.

I'm a board-certified psychiatrist providing the full spectrum of care for all ages. I specialize in untangling complex cases, optimizing medication regimens, and offering strategic, whole-person mental health care. My services include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, skills-based psychotherapy, diagnostic testing, forensic consulting, and second-opinion assessments for treatment-resistant conditions.

What sets me apart isn’t just my training—it’s my philosophy. I believe healing happens through real relationships, not assembly-line care. Patients come to me when they're tired of being rushed, misdiagnosed, overmedicated—or simply not heard. I practice a different kind of psychiatry: authentic, thoughtful, and relentlessly practical. Every treatment plan is personalized, strategic, and designed for real-world success—not cookie-cutter care. I listen deeply, collaborate openly, and empower patients to take clear, sustainable steps toward change.

At MindCraft Health, we reject the profit-driven churn of corporate medicine. Here, you’ll find expert physicians who listen, think critically, and treat patients like whole human beings, not billing codes. We believe in building real partnerships between patients and care teams, which leads to better experiences and outcomes. If you're looking for sharp clinical insight, fierce advocacy, and a clear path forward, you're in the right place.

Whether you’re seeking help with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, addiction, treatment-resistant depression, or complex diagnostic questions, I’m here to offer thoughtful, practical solutions—and a deep commitment to helping you thrive.

Man, psychiatrists are not easy to get appointments with nowadays - I mean real medical doctors, there aren't many of them around. I was calling around and kept getting quotes for 4-6 months wait lists. Also, a lot of these guys don't take any insurance. So, if you can get in to see Dr. Longson, you have literally struck GOLD. She's got a bit of a wait list now too, but seriously, it's worth it. She is so committed to her patients. She actually accepts my insurance too! Dr. Longson is a great listener and you get the sense that she truly cares - like, she treats her patients the way she'd want her own loved ones to be treated. She once told me that actually - that she sees each of us as someone's child or someone's parent or sibling or partner and that her goal is to help us feel like our best selves again so we can get back to not only living our lives the way we want to live them. You can talk to her about difficult things that have happened or are happening now and it truly is a safe, judgment-free space that she provides. Anyways, I'm rambling, but seriously, try to get an appointment with Dr. Longson if you can - she is the best.

Dr. Longson is the best psychiatrist I've ever worked with. She took my meds down from 6 to 2 and also prescribed me daily fresh air and sunshine, a book to help me conquer my symptoms, and some much needed dietary changes. I know it might not sound like much, but she's thinking about me as a whole person - not just a symptom that needs yet another med. Also, she loves talk therapy and will spend real time listening to what's going on - I've never had a psychiatrist spend this much time with me before, not even close. She's a unique doctor, to be sure.

Dr. Longsons excellent - she is busy but that's a good thing, there's a high demand for her services. If your feeling bad and you haven't ever seen a psych before OR if your feeling bad and you have tried to get treatment from other psych doctors before do NOT give up hope. Dr. Longson is NOT an average psychiatrist- she is outstanding. She will leave no stone unturned to figure out what's going on with you and how to get you feeling better fast. I have never met a doctor who genuinely cares about each of her patients as much as Dr. Longson does. She saved my wifes life, to be honest.

I've never had a doctor spend so much time explaining my diagnosis to me. I had mental health challenges my whole life and I haven't really understood what was going on with me until now. She spent an hour taking notes on my entire life story. No one has ever asked me so many detailed questions before about my mental health. She even asked about the mental health of my family members to possibility look for a genetic link. This doctor is thorough, she won't leave a stone unturned. And after getting all my information she came up with a real diagnosis and explained that to me in detail. And then she asked for my input on the medication and therapy options. Never had an experience like this before but I'll tell you right now, when it comes to healthcare you get what you pay for 100%.

About Me

Audrey Longson, DO

A Different Kind of Psychiatrist

As a board-certified psychiatrist, I strive to bring both clinical expertise and a perspective shaped by authenticity, empathy, and a genuine commitment to those I work with.

Throughout my career, which has taken shape over more than ten years and continues to evolve, I've worked across the full spectrum of care—from rural areas to major cities, correctional settings to veterans’ hospitals, and inpatient units to high-end addiction treatment centers—gaining insight from patients of all backgrounds.

These experiences have affirmed a core truth for me: real healing doesn’t come from checking boxes or rushing to prescribe—it comes from being truly seen, heard, and understood.

Early in my career, I rejected the outdated notion that physicians must remain emotionally removed and hide their humanity from patients. People often describe me as a “fierce advocate” and a “thought partner” in their care—someone who listens deeply, meets them where they are, and helps them feel empowered in their healing and growth

Whether in courtrooms, hospital wards, emergency rooms, or consulting with fellow physicians on complex cases, my approach is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and deep understanding of the whole person—not just a diagnosis.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: authentic relationships heal. I blend clinical expertise with a warm, down-to-earth style, committed to building trusting partnerships where patients feel supported, empowered, and genuinely cared for.

Experience and Expertise

Psychiatry and Medication Management
I work with patients of all ages—from children to seniors—as well as individuals, couples, families, and groups. I specialize in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Anxiety, ADHD, OCD
  • Neurodivergence, Autism Spectrum (ASD)
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Addiction and Substance Use Disorders
  • Treatment-resistant Depression
  • Mood Disorders

I am particularly focused on streamlining and optimizing medication regimens, often helping patients achieve better outcomes with fewer medications. I am known amongst my patients for my ability to simplify overly complicated or ineffective medication plans started elsewhere.

My focus is on restoring balance, optimizing mental health, and empowering patients to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Psychotherapy and Skills-Based Coaching
In addition to medication management, I provide psychotherapy and skills-based coaching, drawing from a range of evidence-based psychotherapy modalities:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST)
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Humanistic Therapy
  • Experiential Therapy
  • Interpersonal Therapy
  • Psychoanalysis
  • Motivational Interviewing

As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I create a safe, collaborative space where we can work at your pace, with respect for your lived experience and emotional safety.

Psychological and Specialized Testing

MindCraft Health also offers formalized diagnostic testing services—leveraging gold-standard statistical tools to clarify diagnoses, support advocacy efforts, and guide treatment planning. Whether you're seeking a second opinion, formal documentation, or a deeper understanding of complex conditions, we can help.

A Holistic, Cross-Disciplinary Approach

My training extends beyond psychiatry to include internal medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and exercise physiology. This cross-disciplinary background gives me a more holistic perspective on the intricate connections between mental and physical health.

It’s especially valuable in tailoring treatment plans for patients managing both physical and psychiatric conditions, and helping patients navigate complex medical and mental health challenges.

My aim is to optimize not just your mental health, but your overall health, functionality, and quality of life across every domain.

Global Perspective, Local Compassion

Having served diverse communities across the United States—from the vibrant streets of Queens, New York to the quiet farming towns of rural Oregon—and many places in between— I have served individuals from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. I am also a tireless world traveler who celebrates the richness of human experience.

These enlightening experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the nuanced ways cultural background, life experiences, and systemic barriers shape mental health.

My global perspective reinforces my belief that mental health care should be personalized, compassionate, and accessible to everyone, regardless of background. While English is my first language, I am conversational in Spanish and work comfortably with patients who speak English as a second language.

A Voice for Patients: Consulting, Forensics, and Advocacy

Beyond traditional clinical care, I provide consulting services for legal, administrative, or business needs, including:

  • Forensic psychiatry
  • Independent medical evaluations (IMEs)
  • Utilization reviews / peer reviews / Designated Medical Officer oversight
  • Expert witness opinions

I bring the same meticulous attention to detail, fairness, and empathy to my forensic work as I do to patient care.

I am an experienced public speaker and have presented on topics ranging from published research to continuing education, organizational psychology, and emerging industry and societal trends.

I also actively advocate at the state and national level for mental health care reform, physician autonomy, and patient rights. I believe that transforming healthcare starts with giving both patients and doctors a real voice—and I’m proud to lend mine wherever it’s needed.

Leading MindCraft: A Movement, Not Just a Practice

Founding MindCraft Health was the natural extension of everything I believe in.

After witnessing firsthand the toll corporate medicine was taking on both doctors and patients, I knew there had to be a better way.

MindCraft was built as a physician-owned, patient-centered practice where real relationships, interdisciplinary collaboration, and authentic care come first.

We reject the revolving-door, profit-driven model that has overtaken American healthcare. At MindCraft, patients see dedicated, highly trained doctors and therapists who are free to practice medicine the right way—without corporate interference.

As the founder, my mission is to restore compassion and humanity to mental health care and medicine.

At MindCraft, our passion starts with taking care of the people who care for others.

When doctors and therapists are respected, well-supported, and genuinely happy in their work, they deliver exceptional care.

When they thrive, patients thrive.

And when patients thrive, lives are transformed.

Beyond the Clinic

Outside of medicine, I’m a passionate artist, an avid lover of food, travel, and culture, and an adventurous mom. I’m also an author, currently working to publish my debut novel, which blends my love of psychology and storytelling.

My curiosity about the human mind led to my research project, Is Keeping Up With The Kardashians Keeping You Down?, the first known study exploring the link between reality TV and narcissism.

That same spirit of curiosity and innovation fuels MindCraft Health: a physician-led practice built to challenge the status quo, restore trust in medicine, and put real relationships back at the center of care.

MindCraft isn’t just a practice—it’s a stand against the corporate takeover of medicine. It’s proof that when doctors and therapists are unshackled from corporate control, patients win.

Dr. Audrey Longson, founder of MindCraft Health, offers comprehensive psychiatric care, medication management, psychotherapy integration, forensic consulting, and independent psychiatric evaluations (IME / Fitness For Duty / Utilization Reviews, and more) for patients across Delaware, Illinois, Oklahoma, and beyond. She specializes in simplifying medication regimens and providing compassionate, whole-person mental health care through secure telehealth psychiatry services.
